Catherine Mitchell
Director

Catherine Mitchell is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, and operational management of eScholarship's publishing services. Prior to joining the eScholarship team in 2006, Catherine served as the Web Director of the Commonwealth Club of California. She holds an A.B. in English from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley. Catherine enjoys good bread, good cheese, and repetitive viewings of the BBC Pride and Prejudice mini-series with her husband and daughters.

Lisa Schiff
Technical Lead

Lisa Schiff leads eScholarship's technical development team. Prior to joining the California Digital Library, she was an information engineer at Interwoven. Lisa has an A.B. in Political Science from Bryn Mawr College, received her Ph.D. in Library and Information Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and is the author of Informed Consent: Information Production and Ideology, published by Scarecrow Press. In her spare time, she serves on the national board of Parents for Public Schools and writes a "School Beat" column for BeyondChron.

Kirk Hastings
Senior Developer

Kirk Hastings designs and implements eScholarship's online publishing interfaces and is co-creator of XTF, the search and display technology that drives the eScholarship publishing platform. Kirk previously worked for IATH at the University of Virginia. He has a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.L.I.S. from San José State University. Before becoming a programmer, he was employed as a forest ranger, lumberjack and carpenter.

Martin Haye
Senior Developer

Martin Haye writes the back-end processes that integrate and index eScholarship's data and is co-creator of XTF. Prior to joining the California Digital Library in 2001, Martin worked for a number of major companies in Silicon Valley, including Microsoft, SGI, and nVidia. He has a degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and is an avid fan of bike touring, caving, and retro-computing.

Justin Gonder
Operations Coordinator

Justin Gonder coordinates support services for eScholarship administrators and end users, while also consulting with team members to shape future development. He holds both a B.A. in Psychology (2006) and an M.A. in Psychological Science (2010) from California State University, Chico. While working to complete his degrees, Justin served as Assistant Director of the First-Year Experience Program, and taught courses in biological psychology and research-based writing. His interest in digital repositories was sparked while supporting clients at the Berkeley Electronic Press.
